Theodora Giggle Doctors

The 13th Changemaker of the 10th season of the Sabancı Foundation Turkey’s Changemakers program is Theodora Giggle Doctors, who visit children receiving long-term treatment in hospital and make them laugh, taking them out of the hospital environment and on a journey to a colorful dream world.

The Giggle Doctors, who have been operating under the Theodora Child Services Association in Turkey for 20 years, place the children at the hospitals they visit at the center of the show and shape their activities according to the child's physical and mental needs.

The professional performers who undergo training in accordance with hospital work based on moral and ethical principles go through a total of 1.5 years of education both in Switzerland and Turkey to become a Theodora Giggle Doctor. To this day, the Theodora Giggle Doctors have made more than 350 thousand hospital visits with 10 giggle doctors in 9 hospitals in Ankara and İstanbul.

The Giggle Doctors visit the children receiving long-term treatment at the hospital each week, on the same day and at the same time. These activities affect the children staying in hospitals positively and help their treatment process.

Theodora Giggle Doctors set out to help children deal with difficult and unusual hospital processes more easily. It opened the doors of a colorful world for them. It removed thousands of children from the hospital environment even if it was for a short time. It supported their treatment process. It made a huge difference in the lives of both the children and their families that will not be forgotten.
