United Nations Joint Program will be implemented in six pilot provinces in total, namely, in Izmir, Kars, Nevsehir, Sanlıurfa, Trabzon and Van. Fundamental problems of the women and girls living in those provinces will be identified so that solution-oriented suggestions and action plans will be worked out, which will create an environment for permanent and feasible partnerships between public and government organizations, local administrations and non-governmental organizations. It is expected that ultimate results will be extrapolated at a national level.
Being a first of its kind in Turkey, the Joint Program is picked by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a "case project". The Joint Program's goal is to raise a social awareness in human rights of women and girls in Turkey. It is expected that following results will be achieved at the end of the Program:
- To help and lay down the basis to remove persistent gender inequality in the society
- To lay down the basis for securing equality at national and local levels
- To create a political atmosphere to protect and improve women's rights
- To raise social awareness about the women rights
- To provide the means for access by women to an active role in economic, social and cultural fields
- To support and implement projects built on agreed action plans.
In addition to donations and contributions by our Foundation to the joint program, 10 Case Projects to be designated every year subject to action plans prepared in six provinces will be eligible to benefit from "Sabanci Foundation Donations Program".
