The 2010 Social Development Grant Program was launched on 16 September 2009 and the final results of the program were announced on 19 March 2010.
The grant program allocated 1.2 Million Turkish Liras to five projects that target women, youth and persons with disabilities with a specific focus on;
- Social Justice- Activities which propose potential solutions for addressing discrimination due to gender, age or disability
- Economic Participation- Activities which propose potential solutions for systems that distort the supply side of employment of key target groups
- Social Participation- Activities which propose potential solutions for empowering and promoting societal participation of target groups
The program also prioritized projects which adopted at least two of these three approaches when developing their projects:
Service Level Approach - Projects that deliver a specific service which has a direct impact on the target group.
Sector Level Approach - Projects that bring together organizations and enable them to share experience and knowhow thus building the capacity of the sector.
System Level Approach - Projects that target systemic inequities (e.g. laws, policies, access to services etc.) which create inequality and negatively affect participation in society.
Results
The program attracted 168 applications from 48 cities around Turkey. The applications were evaluated by the foundation staff and external experts and brought to a Selection Committee for final review. As a result of the evaluation process 5 projects were approved by the Board of Trustees of the Sabanci Foundation. For more information click here...
