Sabanci Foundation's "Turkey's Changemakers" TV program shares inspiring stories of individuals who make a difference in social and economic development.

 

The 16th episode of Sabanci Foundation's "Turkey's Changemakers" tells the story of Mine Narin.

Mine Narin is the chair of Tohum Autism Foundation. Narin has been making a difference in the lives of families and children with autism and pervasive developmental disorders, through the Tohum Autism Foundation, which was established in 2003. Tohum has brought services to more than 15 thousand children with autism and their families. Tohum Autism Foundation conducts anAutism Screening Project for children and has educated special education teachers and Guidance and Research Center (RAM) trainers in cooperation with Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education. The Autism Screening Project is a first of its kind and 46 thousand children were screened.

Mine also advocates and lobbies to improve health and education services for people with disabilities and proposes solutions to problems In addition to the Tohum Autism Foundation, Narin is the member of Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, Education Committee, and Executive Board of Education Reform Initiative (an NGO working to improve education policy and decision making in Turkey). Mine Narin also chairs to Autism Platform which was formed by NGOs established by parents of children with autism, and thanks to her works new NGOs about autism are founded at city levels and they participates in Autism Platform.
