Metin Sabanci Schools commenced services in the academic year of 2011-2012 within the Metin Sabanci Center. The schools have been built by the Sabanci Foundation, which has a closed area of 3,680 m2, and its usage rights have been transferred to Turkish Spastic Children Foundation.
Metin Sabanci Schools are a product of a two-year research process examining the schools that offer education for the Cerebral Palsy population in the world.
Metin Sabanci Schools serve children have Cerebral Palsy with multiple disabilities as well as children with various learning disabilities. The foremost target of the school is to educate children with Cerebral Palsy to support their social, emotional, cognitive, sensory, linguistic and motor development, and to empower them in terms of their self-help skills, communication with the environment and integration with the society. In addition to the Group Training programs that run parallel with the Ministry of Education curriculum, there is the possibility of following an individualized education plan taking into account the developmental level of students.
The educational experts equipped with specific knowledge of the field, the school implements Creative Arts Therapy in Turkey for the first time and leverages on the healing and transformative power of the arts. The school grants diplomas certified by the Ministry of Education and embodies 16 classrooms for grades 1 to 8 and 4 classrooms for preschool level. The total capacity is 159 students.
In addition to the classrooms, the school comprises music and drawing workshops, speech therapy room, psychological counseling service, occupational therapy room, individualized special education room, volunteer room, teachers room, school enrollment and introduction room, dining hall and cafeteria.
