The European Consortium of Foundations on Human Rights and Disability, Disability Mainstreaming Guide, November 2013

The European Consortium of Foundations on Human Rights and Disability (of which Sabanci Foundation is a founding member) continues to carry out substantial work on the human rights of persons with disabilities.

The Disability Mainstreaming Guide, contributed by the Sabanci Foundation, aims to provide a guideline to foundations to integrate disability to the everyday work. This publication elaborates on the concept of mainstreaming and highlights the successful practices of foundations applying disability mainstreaming. Mainstreaming allows for the alleviation of the barriers to full social participation of the persons with disabilities. In this sense, the Disability Mainstreaming Guide provides a base for foundations to follow.

Untapped Potential: European Foundation Funding for Women and Girls Report

The oldest international women’s fund, Mama Cash, published the report “Untapped Potential: European Foundation Funding for Women and Girls” in order to provide data and understand the spirit of European-based funding, with a specific focus on women and girls. According to the report based on the surveys completed by 145 foundations from 19 countries, about one third (37%) intentionally focus at least some of their work on women and girls, and they give only 5% of their grants to issues targeting women and girls.

The report also contains best practices from different countries. Sabanci Foundation (a funder for women and girls issues in Turkey), Dutch Bernard van Leer Foundation, Belgian King Baudouin Foundation, Swiss Oak Foundation, English Sigrid Rausing Foundation and the Learning Bridges Initiative are among the case studies included by the report.
