The school opened in the town of Tepecik in the Buyukcekmece District in 1936. When the school’s capacity started becoming insufficient, in 1968 the SA Akcimento factory had an annex built. In honor of their generosity, the name of the school changed to SA Akcimento Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School. In 1997, when SA Akcimento Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School started providing elementary education with the implementation of the 8 year mandatory education, the old buildings were torn down and instead a 4-storey modern building was built in 1998.
The school has been established on a total area of 6,450 square meters and has a closed area of 2,600 square meters.
With the annexes built by the contributions of Sabanci Foundation, SA Akcimento Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School can accommodate increased number of students and continues to provide primary education under the Ministry of National Education.
At SA Akcimento Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School, with its 2,520-student capacity, there is a library with a capacity of 45 people with 3,100 books, computer and science laboratories, a multipurpose hall with a capacity to hold 120 people, 30 classrooms, administrative offices, a canteen and a nursery section for 24 children.
