Projects on violence against women have so far focused only on the training of women. However, the trainings should focus on men who are the source of violence. The Subject is Men project which was based on this assumption was executed during 2013 Sabancı Foundation Grant Programme. With the success of this project, this second cycle will be based on implementing the same project with a different target group. This time, imams as the actors with the power to influence men in their communities will be the main target group of this project.


Project Goals

- Reaching 300 imams in 6 trainings in both Kahramanmaras city centre and surrounding districts

- Publication of 1000 brochures and 100 posters

- At least 20 % awareness raising of imams by implementing a pre-post survey before and after the trainings

- Recording of Friday preaching of 9 imams on prevention of violence against women and gender equality as exemplary preaching
