A social startup works to increase individual donations: Yuvarla (Round Up)


Yuvarla became the seventh Changemaker of the 7th season of the Sabanci Foundation Turkey’s Changemakers Program.


When you shop online, the small change that does not mean much to you is transferred to civil society organizations as donations. There are two civil society volunteers behind this system, Emre Danaci and Erdi Yerebasmaz. The name of the startup is Yuvarla.


Yuvarla initiative, for now only used in online purchases, operates in the following manner: First, you enter to the shopping website. Then you choose the product you would like to buy and round up the amount. The rounding amount is directly transferred to the civil society organizations.


Yuvarla.org initiative conducts projects in partnership with 15 different civil society organizations. Until now, more than 300 thousand people have raised around 2 million TL for these associations.


Yuvarla has emerged from two civil society volunteers efforts to find a solution to the economic needs of civil society organizations in Turkey. It has promoted the culture of donation by individuals. It provided support to the associations working on social and environmental issues. It made a huge difference both in the field of civil society and in the lives of many people who have never made a donation before.
