2010 "Sakip Sabanci Art Awards", were given on 9 November 2009 at "the Seed" Conference Center in Sakip Sabanci Museum.

Initiated by the Sabanci Foundation to honor the wish of the late Sakip Sabanci, the 17th Sakip Sabanci Art Awards were given at a ceremony attended by Levent Guncal, Deputy Governor of Istanbul; Professor Ahmet Tasagil, Deputy President of the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University; Turkan Sabanci; Guler Sabanci, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Sabanci Foundation; Sevil Sabanci, member of the Sabanci Holding Board of Directors; Dilek Sabanci, member of the Sabanci Foundation Board of Trustees, and Husnu Pacacioglu, Vice-Chairman of the Sabanci Foundation Board of Trustees and General Manager of the Foundation, in addition to many distinguished guests from business and art circles.

The awards ceremony began with a short film titled “Sakip Sabanci and Art”  Speaking at the ceremony, Turkan Sabanci said, “Sakip Sabanci believed that art was one of the fundamental aspects of social development, and started this award program to encourage artists and their work.  We will uphold these values and continue his tradition.

Following the speeches, awardees received their prizes.  Guests were then invited by the Sabanci Foundation to tour the “Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum” exhibition at the Sakip Sabanci Museum.
