Background

While half of the Karabiga/Canakkale population consisted of women, there are limited opportunities for their social and economic participation (Source: Karabigakop, 2011).

Project Goals

• In Canakkale-Karabiga:
  • 300 women will learn about the rights of women and child care.
  • 90 women will participate in the leadership trainings that will prepare them for the participation in economic life.
  • Through community mothers program, 300 women will benefit from early childhood training.
  • 260 kids will benefit from the toy library, after-school programs and playing room.

Project Results

• Karabiga Women and Child Center was established.
• Trainings on breast cancer, women’s rights, early child care and communication with adolescents were held with the participation of 50 women.
• 40 kids benefited from the toy library, after-school programs and playing room.
• 25 women participated in regular sewing and service courses.
• Financial literacy and leadership trainings were held with the participation of 50 women.
