Sowing Season: Experience Sharing Meeting October 18, 2018
On October 18, 2018, representatives of 8 civil society organizations who completed their projects with the support from the Sabancı Foundation Grant Programs convened at a meeting held at Sabancı Center in Istanbul, hosted by the Chair of the Sabancı Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms. Güler Sabancı.
At the Experience Sharing Meeting moderated by the famous journalist and broadcaster Şirin Payzın, project representatives from the Ashoka Turkey, Association For Struggle Against Sexual Violence, Down Syndrome Association, Mardin Culture Association, Rural Schools Transformation Network, Sulukule Volunteers Association, Tohum Autism Foundation and Yuva Association, shared their project outcomes, project experiences, plans for the future as well as the stories of project beneficiaries.

In her opening speech, the Chair of the Sabancı Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms. Güler Sabancı emphasized the need of expertise and experience to create sustainable solutions for social problems and continued “While talking about power I mean civil society organizations who have expertise and capacity of administration, who have deepened in their working field. I mean civil society organizations which are able to analyze the needs, have the potential to create solutions to overcome problems and to develop models that would set a good example for public administration. With this point of view, we support civil society organizations engaged in projects for women, youth and people with disabilities. Within the Grant Program we have supported 148 projects with 20 million Turkish Liras in 11 years.”
Stating that Sabancı Foundation touched lives of hundreds of thousands of people in all over Turkey, Ms. Sabancı added “I believe that inspire each other is crucial to increase this impact, and for this reason we also support civil society organizations to share their experiences. We take courage to support more powerful project with their inspiring stories. I believe that empowerment story of every single person will contribute to social development.”
Following the opening speeches, success stories of projects in the Sabancı Foundation Grant Program were shared with participants, public, and the media. Participants then answered the questions raised by media members and the audience.
Prior to this meeting, on October 18, 2018, project representatives of Sabancı Foundation Grant Program convened at a workshop to share experiences during their project implementation period.
