Background

The resource rooms are opened in schools by Provincial or District National Education Directorates to support the educational processes of students with special educational needs. Researches and workshops revealed that there is a problem in creating the resource rooms for the purpose, there is a lack of materials, there is a problem in preparing an individualized training program and finding a sample program, and teachers do not want to take part in the resource rooms due to lack of information. Professional development studies should be done to improve the physical conditions of the resource rooms and to prepare special education and individualized education programs for teachers.

Project Goals

  • Germany will be visited to observe foreign studies for students with special educational needs, and the outcomes of the study visit will be evaluated and reported.
  • A workshop for special education and the resource rooms will be held with the participation of academicians who are experts in the field of special education, psychological counselling and guidance specialists.
  • An exemplary resource room will be created.
  • An exemplary tech-advanced individualized training program and activities will be created.
  • A training module will be created for teacher training and trainings will be held with the participation of 225 teachers.
  • Tech-advanced individualized education program and activities will be developed by teachers and implemented in the resource rooms of 75 schools where they work. An evaluation workshop will be held after the applications.
  • A booklet will be created to share training contents and project outcomes, and a 2-day sharing symposium for teachers and 2 parental seminars for families will be held.

Project Results

  • Workshops on special education and the resource rooms were held two times with the participation of academics who are experts in the field of special education, psychological counselling and guidance.
  • A sample resource room was built and designed.
  • 27 tech-advanced individualized training programs and 15 activities supported by technology were designed.
  • A training module was created for teacher training and trainings were held with the participation of 65 teachers.
  • “Resource Rooms – Individualized Training Program and Activity Practices” book was created to share training contents and project outputs.
  • Two seminars were held for parents in the field of special education.
