The 15th and last Changemaker of the 9th season of the Sabancı Foundation Turkey’s Changemakers Program is Belki de Sensin (Maybe It’s You) that creates awareness about stem cell donation.
According to Turkish Red Crescent Society’s 2017 data, there are around 300 thousand of stem cell donors in Turkey. Ministry of Health, Turkish Red Crescent Society and Stem Cell Coordination Center of Turkey are being in the first place, several official institutions work to increase this number. Belki de Sensin is a platform that implements voluntary activities on this issue to create awareness.
Belki de Sensin was founded in 2013 by Merve Dilara Kurt and Aykut Kadir Kurt to encourage people to be stem cell donors. The platform creates awareness about cancer patients, leukemia is being in the first place, and encourages healthy individuals between 18-50 years old to become stem cell donors. Belki de Sensin platform has over 300 volunteers in 10 cities. The volunteers of the platform inform people about stem cell in schools, parks in different cities and organize seminars. Until now, the platform convinced lots of people to become a donor.
Belki de Sensin platform reached hundreds of thousands of people until now and created awareness about stem cell donation. It became a hope for tens of people’s life. It created a huge difference both in lives of patients and donors.
