DemGoodCoffee became the fourth Changemaker of the 8th season of the Sabanci Foundation Turkey’s Changemakers Program.
DemGoodCoffee is a coffee shop operating under Dem Foundation, whose aim is to realize empathy based social initiatives and social responsibility projects.
DemGoodCoffee blends deaf and hearing-impaired culture with coffee culture. With the power of coffee that encourages dialogue, DemGoodCoffee questions the “pity feeling” towards people with disabilities in an unusual manner.
DemGoodCoffee is a multi-purpose social sharing center at the same time. A part of the team working in DemGoodCoffee is formed of hearing-impaired persons. DemGoodCoffee also offers Turkish sign language courses to hundreds of people.
DemGoodCoffee followed a dream. It encouraged the emergence of dialogue between hearing-impaired persons and hearing persons. DemGoodCoffee paved the way for hundreds of people to learn sign language and experience life differently. It developed a new model in civil society.
