BACKGROUND

The "Deaf and Hard of Hearing Women's Rights Education Platform" project, which was developed based on the fact that existing rights-based studies are not accessible enough for the deaf and hearing-impaired community, where the differences in the level of reading-writing and comprehension of written content are high, was implemented in 2021-2022 within the scope of Sabancı Foundation Grant programs. There is a need to ensure the sustainability of the platform through collaborations with the private sector and to disseminate it for deaf and hearing-impaired women through workshops in different provinces in Turkey.

PROJECT GOALS

  • A campaign to increase the number of registered users on the platform and to promote the platform to potential sponsors will be implemented.
  • Ambassador workshops will be organised with a total of 48 deaf and hearing-impaired women in 3 provinces and 3 dissemination meetings will be organised by each ambassador.
  • The impact of the platform on users will be measured and reported.
  • Sponsorship meetings will be held with at least 15 private companies and cooperation will be realised for at least one workshop during the project.

PROJECT RESULTS

  • 38 women participated in the workshops held in İzmir, Eskişehir and Van; in total, 106 women were reached with 8 workshops in 17 provinces.
  • With the 50-day social media campaign, the number of users increased by 54% to 454; a total of 452 hours of training was provided.
  • 5 collaboration models were developed and shared with more than 40 institutions.
  • Intersectional work was carried out with deaf and hearing impaired women in the field of gender and disability.
  • According to the monitoring report, 77% of users stated that they received rights training for the first time through this platform.
