Background

Despite the multicultural history of Ladik district in Samsun, people do not give enough importance to diversity. Since families do not see music as a primary tool for the development of their children and Ladik is far from the city center, children cannot participate in culture and arts activities.

Project Goals

• In Samsun:
  • Trainings on fighting discrimination and prejudices, peace and gender will be organized for 30 students in the choir.
  • Trainings on understanding the adolescent, communication and gender will be organized for families to support them in raising their children.
  • Students will meet role models who earn their living through art.

Project Results

• In Samsun:
  • 30 students in the choir participated in workshops and trainings on diversity, fighting prejudices, peace and gender equality.
  • Seminars on “understanding the adolescent”, “communication”, “gender equality” and “living with diversity” were organized for families of the children.
  • A workshop was organized with the participation of Samsun State Classical Turkish Music Choir to discuss music as a career option.
