Purple Certificate is a gender education program targeting high school teachers. The goal of the program, which took place at Sabanci University Campus on 5-6 July, 2007, was to develop a critical perspective on gender issues among high school teachers. At the end of the program, 30 participants from 6 project cities were given Purple Certificates.
In each city the project group asked questions to teachers regarding the education system with gender awareness and the issues to determine whether the content of the training is compatible and sufficent. Through this research, the high school teachers had the chance to contribute to the context of the Purple Certificate Program.
According to evaluations, 33 high school teachers who attended the 2007 Purple Certificate Program, now integrate higher gender awareness in their private lives as well as their teaching techniques. Furthermore, these teachers have started to implement projects in their own schools, which were developed on the last day of the program.
