Akcansa Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School - İstanbul

The school opened in the Tepecik neighbourhood of in the Buyukcekmece District in 1936 as Tepecik Primary School. When the school’s capacity started becoming insufficient, in 1968 the Akcansa (formerly named as SA Akcimento) had an annex built and the name of the school changed to SA Akcimento Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School. In 1998, the old buildings were torn down and instead a 4-storey modern building was built. The school serving as a primary education school until 2014-2015 academic year, since that time it was converted into a primary school. In the academic year of 2015-2016, the school was renamed as Akcansa Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School.

The school has been established on a total area of 6,450 square meters and has a closed area of 2,600 square meters. With the annexes built by the contributions of Sabanci Foundation, the school can accommodate increased number of students and has a 2,500-student capacity. It has a library with 3,100 books and a capacity for 45 students, computer and science laboratories, a multipurpose hall with a capacity to hold 120 people, 30 classrooms, administrative offices, a canteen and a nursery for 24 children.
