Türkan Sabancı Primary School, Secondary School and Vocational Education Center for the Blind İstanbul
The name of the school “Türkan Sabancı Primary School for the Blind” was changed as “Türkan Sabancı Primary School, Secondary School and Vocational Education Center for the Blind”.
This institution has been built by Sabancı Foundation and usage rights of which have been transferred to the Ministry of National Education. Turkan Sabanci Primary School for the Blind, commissioned in the academic year of 1997-1998, has been established on a total area of 31,432 square meters and has a closed area of 19,000 square meters.
There are 40 classrooms for the visually impaired students and laboratories of mathematics, computer and science with a total capacity of 60 students as well as both individually and collectively talking library for 30 students, another library for 60 students, 1 eye scan center, a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 300 people, talking book recording studio, sports hall, laundry, music room, infirmary, carpet, winding, wood works, sculpture and knitting shops available at the School which has a capacity of 250 students.
Additionally, the School has a canteen, a cafeteria for 250 people and a large kitchen.
The school worked in collaboration with the Perkins School for the Blind and trains blind or low visual capability students in preschool, primary education and vocational.
Sabancı Foundation, the Türkan Sabancı Primary School, Secondary School and Vocational Education Center for the Blind, the Perkins School for the Blind and Vista Tourism, had signed a three-year partnership agreement in 2009.
