Golden Compass Jury’s Special Award Goes to Sabanci Foundation

- Sabancı Foundation’s “We Can End Child Marriage Together: Sharing Lessons from Other Countries” International Workshop wins the Golden Compass Jury’s Special Award - General Manager of Sabancı Foundation, Zerrin Koyunsağan: “We bring international experiences to our country in order to join forces for prevention of child marriage and attract the world’s attention to the issue. We are happy too see our efforts being recognized once again.”

Organized by the Turkish Public Relations Association (TÜHİD) for the 13th time this year, Golden Compass Public Relations Awards were presented to the award winners during the ceremony held on the night of Tuesday, June 3.

Sabancı Foundation won the “Jury’s Special Award” with “We Can End Child Marriage Together: Sharing Lessons from Other Countries” International Workshopheld at Sabancı Foundation’s premises upon participation of members of the “Girls Not Brides” Platform.

General Manager of Sabancı Foundation, Zerrin Koyunsağan made the following statementabout the Golden Compass Award:“ At Sabanci Foundation, we have been pursuing activities since 2010 to fight against child marriage. In addressing this problem, we support civil society and collaborate with national and international organizations. We bring international experiences to our country in order to join forces for prevention of child marriage and attract the world’s attention to the issue. By hosting the international workshop held by the 'Girls Not Brides' platform in Istanbul, we enabled the sharing of best practices with a view to resolve the problem. We are happy too see that our efforts are recognized with TÜHİD’s Golden Compass Public Relations Award”.

Organized by TUHID since 2001 in order to reward and encourage successful public relations initiatives, the Golden Compass Public Relations Awards were held for the 13th time this year. A total of 113 projects applied in 13 main categories and 10 sub-categories. 25 projects out of 113 won awards.  

49 NGO representatives from 24 countries had participated in the Workshop

Held in Istanbul from February 11 to February 13, the Workshop hosted a total of 49 NGO’s from 24 countries from the US to Nigeria. Addressing the issue of “Child Brides” for a period of 3 days, the participants developed solution proposals regarding child brides for more than 30 hours.
