The Sabancı Foundation started a new cooperation with the Education Volunteers Foundation of Turkey in order to ensure the Papuduk book set prepared in order to make children love animals and nature to reach more children. In the “Animal Rights Activities with Papuduk” which were prepared by starting out from the Papuduk book set, each of which handles a different theme about animal rights, and which will be carried out online by the TEGV volunteers, it is aimed to raise awareness of children on animal rights and develop their creative reading skills.
The Animal Rights Activities with Papuduk, in which children learn while having fun, focus on harmful behaviors of people against animals and nature, and on prompting creative thinking and problem solving skills of children. In the activities, children have opportunity to question themselves and their surroundings, while they improve themselves in areas such as understanding their feelings, showing empathy, creating solutions for different problems and problem solving skill. Activities, which were prepared for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades in primary schools and comprised of 5 different sessions each of which lasts 70 to 80 minutes, are realized with the method of creative reading. Activities will be published for free and accessible for all children on the TEGV Digital Platform.
Papuduk Book Set
The story of Rabbit Papuduk was told to Serra Sabancı, a Member of Board of Trustees of the Sabancı Foundation, by her grandmother when she was a child, and now Rabbit Papuduk goes on new adventures by means of Sabancı Foundation’s Changemaker Tolga Öztorun, with writing of Lider Hepgenç and creative drawings of Ece Zeber. Stories, which were evaluated by Prof. Dr. Feyza Çorapçı, got ready to reach all children in Turkey via Tekir Kitap. Adventures of a rabbit named Papuduk, which lives happily in a forest, to discourage people who harm animals and nature from their behaviors are told in the series of 5 books developed in order to teach children animal rights and raise awareness of children on love of animals. The series of Papuduk is distributed for free for teachers working in public schools via the Sabancı Foundation. Versions of the books accessible with audio descriptions prepared for visually impaired readers are also available for free on the Sabancı Foundation website.
