Sabancı Foundationwas recognized and honored with the International Gold Star for Quality, an award presented by Business Initiative Directions (BID) to leading institutions promoting the culture of quality as well as sustainable growth. The award was presented to the General Manager of Sabanci Foundation, Ms. Zerrin Koyunsağan, by the BID President, Mr. Jose E. Prieto, during a ceremony held on 27 October 2013 in the World Quality Commitment Convention in Paris.
Sabancı Foundation received the International Gold Star for Quality award due to its leadership and contribution to quality and excellence, as well as its commitment to innovation and technology. BID announced that the awardees were designated by the International Selection Committee, composed of members from 90 countries. The Committee selected Sabanci Foundation for its sectoral and social leadership in creating a continually improving governance style with a strict focus on the principle of quality.
At the award ceremony, the General Manager of Sabancı Foundation, Ms. Zerrin Koyunsağan, expressed her gratitude for the Foundation’s recognition as a pioneering institution in philanthropy sector and its leadership role in social development: “The innovative practices we use in our grant programs, as well as our programs with partners, are being followed closely in the international arena. We have been reaping the fruits of our achievements. As Sabancı Foundation, we are very happy and honored that BID has recognized our work in which we adhere to the quality standards in the philanthropy sector. The fact that we were granted this award, highlighted once again the significance of applying sustainable and innovative practices in civil society sector.” said Koyunsağan.
Other Awards of Sabancı Foundation
Chairman of the Sabancı Foundation, Ms. Güler Sabancı was awarded “The 2009 Raymond Georis Prize for Innovative Philanthropy” by the German Mercator Fundfor her efforts to play a leading and fundamental role in setting a European standard for philanthropy in Turkey. In 2011, Sabancı Foundation Chairman Ms. Güler Sabancı was awarded “Clinton Global Citizen Award” by Clinton Global Initiative for her commitment to ending child marriages in Turkey, and in 2013, Ms. Sabancı was honored with the “David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award” which is presented to exceptional leaders who work for social development. Sabancı Foundation and Ms. Güler Sabancı were also honored with a certificate from the Clinton Global Initiative for their commitment in “Child Brides” issues in 2012.
BID Quality Award
Being regarded as one of the most prestigious quality awards globally, The World Quality Commitment Award is presented each year by BID to institutions playing a leadership role in achieving quality, innovation, excellence and technology. BID voting process is carried out throughout the year in different countries based on the Total Quality Management Model (QC100). The International Selection Committee, composed of members from 90 countries, designated the awardees one of which has been the Sabanci Foundation. BID has announced that Sabancı Foundation has been recognized for its leadership in creating a continually improving management style with a strict focus on quality principle.
