Sabancı Foundation’s Social Development Grant Program (SDGP), which aims to support NGOs working on problems of women, youth and people with disabilities, is calling for applications.
The grant will be allocated to NGOs that implement projects geared for the participation and equality of women, youth and people with disabilities. Applications will be filed between January 3 – February 21, 2014. Since 2008, Sabancı Foundation has allocated a total of 8,5 million TL to 37 projects along with the 1,3 million TL that will be allocated in 2014.
The Chairman of the Sabancı Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms. Güler Sabancı, stated that it has been seven years since they started the Social Development Grant Program: “Through the grant programs, we have been supporting civil society organizations, and encouraging them to find lasting and effective solutions to social problems. We believe this model, implemented for the first time by our Foundation in Turkey, is an important tool to strengthen social dialogue and promote social reconciliation.”
Ms. Sabancı emphasized the Grant Program support for projects geared for women, youth, and people with disabilities: “With the selected projects, we concentrated on promoting economic and social rights of disadvantaged groups. We instilled hope in 70 thousand people in 72 cities directly, and 300 thousand people indirectly. Grant recipient projects created lasting impact in local, national, and sometimes in international levels. In the new year, we will continue to cooperate with our partner NGO’s and sow new seeds to grow our “Social Development Garden by way of new projects.”
Social Development Grant Program Application Process
Applications to Social Development Grant Program can be made via the online application system on the Sabancı Foundation web site (www.sabancivakfi.org) from January 3 until February 21, 2014.

Grant for the each project is minimum 40.000 TL and maximum 250.000 TL. Upon completion of the application process, the projects will initially be assessed by the Sabanci Foundation Programs team and independent experts, and then by an independent Evaluation Committee composed of academicians, civil society and media experts.
